2023 - AUGUST 1ST FULL MOON

Hi everyone!

This is a special month! Not only do we get two full moons this month, but both are supermoons. We welcome the first full moon on Tuesday, August 1st and it will be fullest at 2:32 P.M. Eastern Time. That evening, look in the southeast region after sunset to see her.

Remember, a supermoon amplifies the impact of her energy on us all. Space.com says a supermoon occurs when "the full moon coincides with the moon's closest approach to Earth in its orbit. Supermoons make the moon appear a little brighter and closer than normal, although the difference is hard to spot with the naked eye." .

August moons are called Sturgeon moons because this is when the sturgeon fish in the great lakes and Lake Champlain are most plentiful for catching in the summer.

The August 1st full moon is in the creative and intellectual sign of Aquarius, and is travelling through the Sun sign of the attention seeking sign of Leo. The characteristics of both those signs impact how we feel this month. Remember, the Full Moon is a time to complete the intentions that we set in motion earlier at the New Moon. This is the time to release what which no longer serves our highest and best.

This August 1st moon will show us ways to invigorate areas of our life that have been stuck, or slow. Growth and change are hard to embrace, but this full moon magnifies the urge to change all the more. Her energizing energy will motivate us to want to get moving in order to shift into something new. As this is a supermoon, be prepared for some "ah hah!" moments during this change.

One of the nicer benefits of this moon is that she will free us from the desire to be liked or acknowledged while we try to unblock ourselves. This moon really lets us be our authentic selves, and not care so much about what others think of us.

Because Venus is currently in retrograde, we may find ourselves struggling between our head and heart, too. Starting a new relationship could prove to be a little different than the norm. We are more selective about our dating decisions at this time, which prevents us from jumping in too readily to a bad choice.

Finally, we must also remember to go outside to ground ourselves in the moon's energy. Our crystals and stones can join us, either by being placed outdoors, or on a window ledge, so that they, too get cleansed and nourished by the moonlight.

Until next month...
