2023 - JULY FULL MOON
Hi everyone!
Our July full moon is a supermoon and arrives today at 7:39 am EDT, which allows us to enjoy her nurturing energy for 3 days. This is the first of 4 supermoons we will have this year, which amplifies the impact of her energy on us all.
According to Space.com, a supermoon occurs when "the full moon coincides with the moon's closest approach to Earth in its orbit. Supermoons make the moon appear a little brighter and closer than normal, although the difference is hard to spot with the naked eye." This month it will be 14,000 miles closer than a typical full moon.
July's full moon is typically called a buck moon because it is at this time that the male deer start growing their antlers.
This moon falls in persistent and practical Capricorn which helps us face some decision making that will ultimately launch us into our next chapter. Up until now, fear made us hesitant to close some chapters in our life. We are finally ready to face those decisions head-on without becoming emotional to the uncertainty of what follows next. Trust the gut, folks!
Full moons are always a time for releasing what no longer serves us. This is a perfect time to be still and meditate to find out what can be let go. It could be a habit, grudge, object, profession, or person that is stopping our forward motion and growth.
Setting an intention in this Capricorn full moon allows us to detach from the emotions that are held in the things we hold, making it easier to let go - to let in good! Yes, it will take hard work, but we have the added persistence from this month's moon on our side.
This is a perfect time to enjoy the outdoor fireworks while basking in the energy of this full moon. Here is a great grounding exercise to try tonight: While looking at the moon, slowly inhale and imagine pulling the moon's energy into the body with that breath. Then, slowly exhale and push that energy through the body, down the legs, and into the earth. Continue this for 5 full breaths. This is a terrific soul-centering exercise!
While we nourish our souls tonight, please remember that crystals and stones need to go outside to recharge, too.
Until next month...
