2022 - MAY RETROGRADE - 2nd of 4
It’s that time again…Mercury in Retrograde!
My, how time flies! It was just last January that I wrote about the first retrograde of the year. Well, it’s time again, folks! Mercury will begin its ‘backwards’ movement in the intelligent and playful sign of Gemini on May 10th. Interestingly, in 2022 every retrograde Mercury has this year (there are 4 of them) travel through two Sun signs. The second phase of this months’ retrograde will happen on May 22nd when Mercury moves into dependable Taurus on May 22.
Expect to see our technology, communications, and travel become unpredictable, right up to June 3rd, when it finally turns direct.
It's going to be a bit of an unsteady time feeling nervous, anxious and not feeling grounded. This retrograde will force us out of our comfort zones.
Our emotions will be unstable during this retrograde, which may cause us to say things without thinking. We must choose our words carefully during this time, leading with kindness in our delivery. After all, Mercury is the planet of communication.
With all this inner and outer uncertainty, it’s imperative to do some self-care. This includes meditation, yoga, stretching, and anything else that helps calm and unify the mind, body, and spirit connection. This will help us manage this retrograde with grace and a better understanding of what we will uncover.
Remember, a retrograde is all about the “RE”: Refocus, realign, read, reassess, research, re-orient, etc. It is a time that forces us all to look at the areas that are out of alignment with what is best for our soul’s growth. Gemini’s and Virgo’s will always feel retrogrades most since Mercury is the ruling planet of those two signs.
As the retrograde continues into the latter part of the month, we may feel the need to relax our grip (so to speak), and take it easy. Conflict can arises within us if a high stress job or a filled calendar is calling, making our inner feeling of needing to “loosen up” compete with our “to-do” list. Tension can rise within us against those responsibilities. Mercury’s need to go, do, and complete contrasts with May’s slow down attitude of the Taurus sign. Just be mindful when taking a break that it doesn’t become passivity.
Now, for this second half of retrograde, we will feel a strong need to focus on what serves us and what does not in our life. Review, reflect, realize, and then ultimately remove what has to go; or redo what needs to stay in order for it to work best for our situation. It means that some things just can’t stay the same. Retrogrades are really quite important for us to grow. It forces us to look at what we typically ignore or put aside for “another day”. What makes us uncomfortable forces us to grow - it ultimately forces us to change something that does not suit us best. Remember to keep positive intentions in the forefront so that we don’t get bogged down with negative feelings.
Take heed, though. During a retrograde there are many things that shouldn’t be done: Starting something new, large purchases, signing contracts etc. It is about shedding what doesn’t work. It’s a time to wrap up loose ends, finish projects that are pending (half-done), and then contemplate our next phase. During this purge and/or repurpose phase, new information can surface which gives us a better picture of the direction we are to take. Eyes open everyone, we don't want to miss what needs our attention!
Until next time,
Virginia
