2022 APRIL FULL MOON

An emotional time is going to be felt this Easter (and start of Passover) as this month’s full moon reaches its fullest at 2:56pm this Saturday, April 16th.

The name of this month’s full moon is the pink moon, named so because of the springtime blooms, like that of the North American pink moss phlox, not because the moon is pink.

During every full moon, we tend to be more acutely aware what needs our attention.  A full moon is a culmination of what we started two weeks prior at the time of the new moon.  We focus on opposing forces – home vs work, want vs need, harmony vs discord, etc.  This is because we are to focus on what works and what doesn’t in those areas, learn the importance of a healthy balance in our life, and finally get the courage to do something about it.

This month, the Sun in Aries forms an opposition (meaning directly opposite) to the moon which will be sitting in the house of Libra.  When Aries-Libra aligns like this, it brings forward heightened emotions in us which can cause some drama in the days to come.  This will be a time when our patience is tested, folks!  And, we may even have some “ah-hah!” moments in the area of relationships before this full moon finishes.

Note:  A full moon’s energy can be felt 3 days either side of the time that she’s fullest.

Aries represents “self” (self-assertion), whereas Libra represents “other” (compromise).   With the moon in Libra, we will be focusing on how to maintain good relationships with others while not losing focus of our own needs – balance being the key.  However, arguments may surface since we are also influenced this month with the Sun in Aries, which drives us to become independent and self-assertive, forgetting the need to keep harmony and balance.   The focus is on compromise this month.

The polarities between Aries and Libra can make us lean one way or the other at different times.  This can cause conflict within us as we feel the need for independence and at the same time partnerships.  Emotional fall-out can occur with this inner conflict as we also tackle our darkest feelings and reactions to issues being presented to us.  As we work through these difficulties with meditation, discussing our thoughts with others, and our spiritual practice, we can come out the other side feeling more positive and healed.  Thank goodness!

We may also feel the need to purge that which does not suit us anymore, and to simplify our lives in order to feel more in control.  However, take note:  Sometimes it’s easier to control our outer world than our inner world.  Full moon's energy is about healing us.  Take this time, with her help, to do the "inner" work needed.

One last thing:  Please remember to rinse your crystals and place them under the full moon’s light to recharge their healing properties.  And, as always, I urge you to get barefoot outside and gaze at her nurturing light.  Every month I feel a different emotion bubble to the surface when I silently stare at her for a few minutes.  Elation, contentment, joy, and sadness are just a few emotions I have experienced over the years while practicing this ritual.  As we all know, the moon affects tides, so why can’t she affect humans?  After all, we are made up of 60 to 70% of water.  Drink up, people!

Until next time.
